Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) is testing that measures the
amount of certain medicines in your blood. This is done to make
sure that your dose of medicine is both safe and effective as
well as to ensure that it is not too high or too low. Most
medicines can be dosed correctly without special testing.
However, for some types of medicines, it may be difficult to
determine the right dose in order to provide you with enough
medication to be able to treat your condition without causing
any dangerous side effects. As a result of TDM, your provider
will be able to determine if you are taking your medicine in the
right amount.
